It's a little weird having a link that automatically downloads what I assume is the "home brew" version, and at the same time has a big green "Get Evernote for Mac!" button that appears to take me to the appstore version, so I wanted to make sure I understood this correctly.

If I check on the AppStore, it shows version 5.0.7 updated Mar 29, 2013. You say to switch from the appstore version to the direct download version. It is relatively quick and painless, and it will give you access to every feature available in Evernote, including print to Evernote. I'd recommend switching from the appstore version to the direct download one. If not, I would like to submit this as a feature request, please let me know how I can do this.
